Trigonometric ratios are defined for a right angled triangle. Cosecant, Secant and cotangent are the reciprocal of the Sine, cosine and tangent. The definitions of the trigonometric functions are given below.

Even – Odd functions
Identities:
sin² θ + cos² θ = 1
sec² θ - tan² θ = 1
csc² θ - cot² θ = 1
Example1: tan θ = 125 Find cos θ?
Sec θ = 135
Cos θ = 1secθ = 513

Example 2: Find p and q listed in the following figure. Round it to the

nearest whole number.

Answer :

Tan 30° = p/60
1/√3 = p/60
P = 60/√3 = 34.64
P = 35
Tan 60° = p/q = 34.64/q
√3 = 35/q
q= 35/√3 = 20.21
q = 20
